Glow Boy In Love: A Valentine’s Gift for Bad Bella
In the neon-lit chaos of Glitch Space, Georgie Lugh isn’t looking for the perfect Valentine’s gift—he’s creating one. Something unpredictable, something alive, something that shifts and shimmers like the feelings he can’t quite put into words.
When he finally places the glowing, ever-changing sphere in front of Bad Bella, will she see it for what it is? Or will Georgie remain just a quiet glow in the background of her world?
This story is just a small part of the tale. New episodes stream on Mondays.
Georgie Lugh was not one for grand gestures. He was more of a quiet presence, a steady hum in the background of Bad Bella’s chaotic symphony. But as Valentine’s Day approached in the erratic, shimmering expanse of Glitch Space, Georgie found himself tangled in a strange new dilemma—what could he possibly give to Bad Bella that would make her pause, even for a moment, and truly see him?
Flowers were too expected. Chocolate would be devoured before he could even finish presenting it. A shiny trinket? Bella liked trinkets, sure, but she also tended to lose them in the depths of Glitch Space, where objects phased in and out of existence.
No, it had to be something different. Something that wasn’t just a gift, but a feeling. Something that spoke of all the things he struggled to say out loud.
Georgie sat atop a floating, crumbling chunk of reality, staring into the undulating sky of shifting neon hues. Glitch Bunnies hopped in and out of existence in the distance, their luminous ears flickering. He closed his eyes and let the idea come to him, feeling the energy of the space around him. And then, in a sudden burst of clarity, he knew exactly what to do.
With a determined nod, he set off to collect the elements of his plan. He needed light, warmth, and a touch of chaos. He needed something that would hold Bella’s attention without demanding it, something she could return to again and again without it ever being the same twice.
It took him days—dodging time loops, bargaining with sentient code, and retrieving fragments of shattered constellations—but at last, it was ready.
On Valentine’s night, he found Bella perched on a jagged, pixelated ledge, staring into the abyss with her usual expression of amused boredom. Without a word, he set the object down beside her. It was a glass sphere, glitching at its edges, filled with swirling, ever-shifting colors—blues that bled into purples, pinks that fractured into gold. It pulsed with a soft, steady glow, casting light onto Bella’s face.
Bella turned to look at it, then at Georgie.
“What is this?” she asked, poking it with one sharp claw. The light inside flickered, reacting to her touch. A soft hum filled the air.
“It’s… well, it’s a piece of Glitch Space,” Georgie said, rubbing the back of his neck. “But it’s also kind of like a song. Or a feeling. It changes depending on who’s holding it. And it never repeats itself.”
Bella watched the sphere shift as she poked it again, her tail flicking. For a long moment, she said nothing. Then, finally, she grinned. Not her usual sharp, mischievous grin, but something softer, something almost unreadable.
“This is weird,” she said. “I like it.”
Georgie felt his chest loosen, the tension dissipating like mist. “Good,” he said, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “It’s yours.”
Bella tilted her head, considering him. Then, in a move so quick it barely registered, she leaned over and flicked his ear with the tip of her tail. “You’re such a glow boy,” she said, smirking.
Georgie didn’t respond—he didn’t need to. The warmth from the sphere reflected in Bella’s golden eyes, and for the first time in a long while, Georgie felt seen.
